Description
WMD Walker Wand 136/40. A mobile pit tag reader with long read range.
The ability to be able to detect tags in an active way is extremely useful where fate of lost/missing tags, animals and/or fish are important to be determined. The same principle applies to monitoring passive cobble transport in Geomorphological studies and assessments. The extended range of the Walker Wand 136/40 means effective monitoring of fish in deeper waters and wider search areas in terrestrial environments too. We have developed the Walker Wand for precisely these purposes. Walker Wands permit active monitoring of PIT tagged items within both terrestrial and aquatic environments.
Walker Wand 136/40 comprises a metal and plastic boom construction, extendable and ergonomic, with a PE custom build articulated search head. The top of the operator boom has a rubber hand grip and arm support to reduce fatigue during use and is operated single handed. The search head is 400mm and is fully tuned giving a read range of 850-900mm and a search radius of 1490-1700mm. The search head is waterproof and suitable for scanning in water for fish or for Geomorphological surveys to monitor erosion and cobble transportation.
The Walker Wand 136/40 is available as a headless unit which can connect to existing WMD HDX Field Readers or Mobile readers. when specified as a headed system (an integrated system featuring an ‘on boom’ information module) this uses the Walker reader with battery slot and connection ports and logging via our removable USB.
Configurable in two power levels, full power and battery saver mode, to enable choosing between scanning depth and operating run-time. The data is logged to USB and has swapable batteries, information screen, tag-detect flashing LED and buzzer. Walker Wands are also upgradable to our latest generation battery technology which saves significant weight and provides even discharge rates during use. Compatible with the HDX PIT tag protocol.
