Description
WMD Walker Wand 125/24. A highly mobile, lightweight and small form factor mobile PIT tag scanning wand with extended read ranges.
The ability to be able to detect tags in an active way is extremely useful where fate of lost/missing tags, animals and/or fish are important to be determined. The same principle applies to monitoring passive cobble transport in Geomorphological studies, terrestrial monitoring and assessments. When used in faster rivers and streams, in order to reduce operator strain and fatigue, we developed the Walker Wand 125/24 for precisely these purposes, but with extended read range over the 125/24. The small form factor means ease of use, reduced operator strain and faster operation when in water. Walker Wands permit active monitoring of PIT tagged items within both terrestrial and aquatic environments.
Walker Wands comprise a metal and plastic ergonomic boom construction, with a PE custom build articulated search head. The top of the operator boom has a rubber hand grip and arm support to reduce fatigue during use and is operated single handed. The search head is 240mm and is fully tuned giving a read range of >720mm and a search radius of >1050mm. The search head is waterproof and suitable for scanning in water for fish. The smaller size means they are very easily transported in a small car to site and also suitable for terrestrial monitoring too.
The Walker Wand 125/24 is a headless unit which can be connected to our HDX Field units or via our Mobile reader with integral battery which are usually carried in a backpack. The very low current draw means extended operating run-time on a single battery. Compatible with the HDX PIT tag protocol. Note, the 125/24 is not telescopic.
